At the heart of the BT Foundation’s commitment to equity and inclusivity is our “Education Support for Orphan & Vulnerable Children” program. This initiative is dedicated to providing access to quality education and holistic support to orphaned, abandoned, or otherwise vulnerable children, ensuring they can thrive and reach their full potential.
Our Approach:
- Comprehensive Support: We recognize that education is not just about access to classrooms and textbooks—it’s about addressing the complex needs of children facing multiple challenges. Our program provides comprehensive support, including educational assistance, psychosocial support, healthcare services, and necessities, to create a supportive environment where children can learn, grow, and succeed.
- Empowerment and Resilience: Through our interventions, we aim to empower orphan and vulnerable children with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to overcome adversity and build a brighter future for themselves. We focus on academic achievement and nurturing resilience, self-esteem, and a sense of belonging.
- Family and Community Engagement: We believe in robust familial and community support systems in a child’s education and well-being. We work closely with families, caregivers, and community members to ensure they are actively involved in the child’s education and development, fostering a sense of belonging and stability.
Our Initiatives:
- Scholarship Programs: We provide scholarships and financial assistance to cover school fees, uniforms, books, and other educational expenses, removing financial barriers to education and ensuring that orphan and vulnerable children can attend school without worry.
- Tutoring and Mentoring: We offer tutoring and mentoring programs to provide additional academic support and guidance to children struggling in school or facing learning challenges, helping them build confidence and achieve academic success.
- Psychosocial Support: We provide counseling, therapy, and other psychosocial support services to help children cope with trauma, grief, and emotional distress, promoting mental health and well-being.
- Healthcare Services: We facilitate access to healthcare services, including medical check-ups, vaccinations, and illness treatment, to ensure that children are healthy and can fully participate in school and other activities.
